Australian floorcovering suppliers back waste recovery scheme ResiLoop
ResiLoop is Australia’s first national product stewardship scheme for resilient flooring, backed by leading suppliers committed to reducing waste from the installation and end-of-life of resilient floorcoverings.
Initiated by the Australian Resilient Flooring Association (ARFA) in 2022 with support from the Australian Government, ResiLoop addresses the estimated 60,000 tonnes of resilient flooring waste generated annually. The scheme is currently active and collecting in Melbourne’s metro area, with a focus on developing practical, local recycling solutions.
Alongside operations, ResiLoop is progressing research and development projects to expand the types of materials that can be collected and recycled, and to extend its reach to new regions. Trials are underway to identify viable end markets for recyclate — the recovered material processed into new products.
