ARFA Strategic Priorities

ARFA's current strategic plan focuses on the following:
  • Standards Review: ARFA's Technical Committee led the review and update by Standards Australia committee PL-015 of AS1884: 2012, now AS1884:2021. The AS4586 Slip Resistance Protocols will be reviewed through Standards Australia committee BD-094.
  • Product Stewardship: Investigating an industry stewardship scheme for vinyl flooring waste though a Government-funded project, ResiLoop
  • Collaboration: Becoming a founding member of the Australian Flooring Industry Alliance, to support an industry training initiative in the TAFE and private sectors
  • Market data: Confidential, third party collation and aggregation of industry statistics for provision to members
  • Environmental Accreditation: through ARFA's membership of the Vinyl Council of Australia, ARFA members have access to the PVC Stewardship Program, Best Practice PVC accreditation and other industry advocacy and services
  • Industry Code of Practice: development of an ARFA member code of practice

Looking for an opportunity to join a skilled occupation? Think about a rewarding career as a flooring technician where you'll work across a range of floor covering types, in constant demand.

Victoria is now recruiting trainees. Check out this video for a taste of what's involved: Laying the Foundation for Your Future

In the business of laying floors?

We would like to help you identify a future floor technician to help your business.

ARFA is looking to ‘match up’ Victorian-based employers with a growing list of candidates who want an opportunity to do the Certificate III apprenticeship in Flooring Technology  qualification at Holmesglen Institute of TAFE.

The Australian Flooring Industry Alliance initiated a Victorian Government-funded installer training project in collaboration with Holmesglen TAFE. The project aims to:
  • raise awareness of the flooring installation trade as an excellent career choice
  • increase the number of flooring technology apprentices in training
  • trial a different approach to TAFE-delivered flooring technology training, and
  • support regional businesses with onsite training and assessment.
